Summer Camp 2014!
Summer Camps in Chicago for Creative Kids
We have such an incredibly involved and connected creative community around us. You talk. We listen. We've made some additional changes this year and we hope that you like them.Read on...-We're celebrating our 6th Summer season and holding our full-day camp prices flat. After-care fees for campers have been reduced (by 25%!) as have the fees for half-day camps. Click here for a printable PDF of the schedule.-We've added a linked Camp Finder on the Camps page for easier navigation to the information you need.-We've added a new online Registration Form to the process and the Camp Confirmation page has a printable PDF of the Release form (ever misplaced that confirmation email?)-We've sequenced our camps so that frequent-campers (we've met a lot of those) can attend for up to 4 subsequent weeks without a repeat.-We've added adult-assisted machine-sewing to the camps for Grades K-3 so that all campers get machine-sewn, quality garments while still learning traditional hand-sewing skills.-We've taken our most popular camp of all time, Project Wishcraft, and made it even better. There is so much to learn and make and do while building confidence and making new friends that we've divided the experience into a collection of 4 styles of camp that delve deeper into the topics to inspire their ideas and sharpen their skills: The Editor, The Maker, The Merchandiser and The Stylist. All campers design and construct clothing and accessories while learning machine- and hand-sewing, elements of personal style, silhouette, fit, flat-patterning, garment construction and industry basics. All Project Wishcraft camps include a walking field trip to one of multiple local, independent fashion-related businesses and smart and funny industry guest-speakers from around the country. We’ve replaced the public fashion show with one just for campers and added additional mementos to share with friends and family (think DVDs of the fashion show, photobooths and more.) Who will take this Summer's record for most Project Wishcraft camps attended ever? We'll see! See our Camps page for complete descriptions of each camp experience. Project Wishcraft campers will once again enjoy walking field trips to Crush on Roscoe and Shangri-La Vintage, and this year we've added a trip to The Needle Shop!-We've continued our afternoon programming for every day that camp is offered-- the original Summer Crafternoons and the Pincushion Social Club, Monday-Friday 3pm-6pm. This is extra great news for those friends that want some weeks at the beach and pool but want a crafty, cool (our A/C rocks) place to hang out in the PM. It's also a great way for campers to have their friends drop-in to the workshop for a playdate (uh, hang out.)-We've deepened our connection with the City of Chicago's learning and digital badging program. Look for more details soon! (The Chicago Summer of Learning has become Chicago City of Learning.)-And like every year, all our camps are still growing with new features and activities.JUMP Into Summer Deal- Planning your child's summer activities can require masterful organization. We want to thank you for doing it early. Early registration discounts are 15% through January 31, 2014 and then 10% through February 15, 2014. We've eliminated the middle-man, deal-vouchers and coupons and bring the deal directly to you. May not be combined with any other promotion. So what are you waiting for? We can't wait to see you. We can't wait to meet you. We can't wait to show you what we've come up with for this year.(ps- want to read more about our philosophy?
